Clay Courses Fall 2010

Clay Courses Fall 2010 Children's Clay Workshop

Beginning September 29, Clay courses will resume in the pottery studio of Lincoln Street Center at 24 Lincoln St., Rockland, with instructor Ann McClellan.  Eight consecutive weeks will allow for multiple projects and skill-building techniques to be taught. 

Kids clay workshop afterschool, 3:45-5.  Everyone will enjoy making clay pieces, like a wonderful planter pot or a unique sculptural garden piece. Unique gifts can be made and finished in time for the holidays.  Children will learn techniques for working with clay projects assigned, and their own ideas for 3D creations. Fee $80 for 8 sessions. Ages 7--14 welcome.

For more studio time, it’s possible to take advantage of Thursday evening Open Studio at discounted price (just $5! When you join this class). Instructor Ann McClellan has worked with children for many years. McClellan served a 5 year potter's apprenticeship in Japan. Her wares are available locally at Carver Hill Gallery in Rockport and Trillium Soaps in Rockland.  She holds two B.A. degrees in Art and Art Education. Her work is in permanent collections in Japan.

Adult Pottery Studio at Lincoln Street Center Fall Session

Pottery Course for Adults.  Wednesdays Sept. 29-Nov. 17 6-8pm.  Develop your skills at wheel throwing or hand-building.  Projects presented may include lidded forms, kitchen items, and tiles as well as support for individual goals. Unique holiday gifts may also be created in this 8 week program.  If you have other projects in mind, you are welcome use this time to work and enjoy the company of others in the studio. Clay and glaze techniques will be taught. Instructor Ann McClellan has worked with adult learners for many years. She served a 5 year potter's apprenticeship in Japan. Come and enjoy company in the 3D Studio during these upcoming winter months. Feel free to bring a light meal. All levels/teenagers welcome. Fee: $105 for 8 sessions, plus $10 material fee.

For anyone who enrolls in Adult Clay class, Pottery Open Studio provides extra hours to finish or fine tune pieces in progress to make the most of their class time.  Carolyn Berg, pottery enthusiast, will be onsite each week during Open Studio to facilitate.  Pottery Open Studio is open year-round to intermediate and advanced clay artists for a drop in fee of only $10 (plus material fee) The studio is equipped with 4 Electric Wheels, 1 kick wheel, Slab Roller, Tools, Kilns, Glazes and Bisques.

Pottery Open Studio is an wonderful opportunity for all members of the community who enjoy working with clay, in hand building or wheel throwing techniques on Thursday evenings from 6-8. It only costs $10 (plus material fees as used) for people with previous experience working with clay.  The Open Studio will run every Thursday ongoing, downstairs at the Lincoln Street Center. The studio is equipped with 4 Electric Wheels, 1 kick wheel, Slab Roller, Tools, Kilns, Glazes and Bisques.

Carolyn Berg, pottery enthusiast, will be onsite each week during Open Studio to facilitate. Carolyn is originally from Spokane, WA  where she attended Washington State University and has recently moved here from Chicago. Carolyn is a resident of Spruce Head, where she runs an internet marketing company with partner, Max.

For anyone who enrolls in Adult Clay or Clay Camp for Kids, Pottery Open Studio provides extra hours in Studio #8 to finish or fine tune pieces in progress to make the most of their class time. Parents accompanying their kids while they work will no doubt enjoy being in the creative environment at Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln St. in Rockland.
