Clay Courses Summer 2010

Children's Clay Workshop

Everyone will enjoy making a wonderful planter pot and a unique sculptural garden piece. Children will learn how to form a vase, adding personalized designs as they explore how to create textured surfaces. We will share stories about summertime and gardens as the children learn techniques while forming their 3D creations. Ages 7--14 welcome.

Call 594-6490 for registration: July 19, 20, 9:30--11:30, Fee $25 (includes clay/firing) Projects will be picked up by participants two weeks later.

For Adults

Saturday Summer Workshop for Cooks

Join us for a Saturday morning clay workshop! Gardeners and cooks will enjoy these wares! We will make a series of small projects: garlic roasters, chop stick rests (hashi oki), and butter dishes.  If you have your own small project in mind, you are welcome use this time to work and enjoy the company of others in the studio. Projects will be picked up by participants two weeks later. Mark your calender: Sat. July 17, 9:30--11:30, Fee $25 (includes clay/firing)


Open Studio with Carolyn Berg at Lincoln Street Center

Pottery Open Studio is an wonderful opportunity for all members of the community who enjoy working with clay, in hand building or wheel throwing techniques on Thursday evenings from 6-8. It only costs $10 (plus material fees as used) for people with previous experience working with clay.  The Open Studio will run every Thursday ongoing, downstairs at the Lincoln Street Center. The studio is equipped with 4 Electric Wheels, 1 kick wheel, Slab Roller, Tools, Kilns, Glazes and Bisques.

Carolyn Berg, pottery enthusiast, will be onsite each week during Open Studio to facilitate. Carolyn is originally from Spokane, WA  where she attended Washington State University and has recently moved here from Chicago. Carolyn is a resident of Spruce Head, where she runs an internet marketing company with partner, Max.

For anyone who enrolls in Adult Clay or Clay Camp for Kids, Pottery Open Studio provides extra hours in Studio #8 to finish or fine tune pieces in progress to make the most of their class time. Parents accompanying their kids while they work will no doubt enjoy being in the creative environment at Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln St. in Rockland.
