Fiddle for Beginners Jim Burke
In this very affordable course, you will cover basic fingering and bowing patterns & learn some easy fiddle tunes in a group setting. Students will need a notebook and a portable recorder (preferably digital). Instruction materials and music will be provided by the instructor. Jim Burke is a long-time professional musician and fiddler in a variety of styles. He is an experienced teacher; and owner of a fiddle instruction website, www.fiddlehub.com.

Learn to Play the Recorder! Rachel Belanger & Gail Ladd
Come learn to play your choice of either the alto or soprano recorder. If you have played another instrument in the past, you can easily learn a new one. Recorders and sheet music will be available. Class size is limited to eight people. If interest dictates, this course will be extended. Participants must be 16 years or older. Some ability to read music is required.

Topics include Ayurvedic types, History, Food politics, cooking techniques, special diets, eating-on-the-go, meal planning and social pressure.

The cost is $40 per class or $225 paid in full if you register and pay by September 8th.
Program includes workshops, binder, food samples (for home), food tastings (in class), recipes, email and web-based support, as well as optional grocery store tours and wellness seminars.

Shamanic Healing Classes

The Mind/Body Connection: October 1
What is your body telling you with your physical symptoms? How can you use that information to heal? Experience how your body and your emotions are linked and how the relationship between the two affect your daily life. You’ll also learn specific tools and practices that can bring about a greater sense of ease.

Introduction to Energy Healing Tools: October 15 Learn how to use several energy healing tools for your own healing or in your own healing practice. You will have hands-on experiences in working with the body’s energy and learn specific energy healing techniques that you can begin to use immediately. Bring a blanket or mat for floor work, as well as your questions and your curiosity!

Unhooking from Negative Behavior Patterns and Beliefs through Shamanic Healing and Journeying: October 29 If you continue to repeat negative behavior patterns in your relationships, your family, and your work environment, this workshop is for you. You will discover how the belief and behavior patterns that originated in your family and that you are carrying throughout your life can be released. You will learn some key tools that will jumpstart your journey back to wholeness and happiness. If time permits, we'll do a shamanic journey together to discover your personal power animal. Bring a blanket/mat/pillow for floor work.

Color Health Cynthia Swan
This fun 2-hour class incorporates the use of color therapy. Color can be used to balance our energy wherever our body is lacking, be it emotional, physical, spiritual or mental. We will explore the realm of color healing. This interactive program incorporates a variety of “color” tools including Aura-Soma (a collection of beautifully colored bottles) and color testing, just to name a few. Cynthia Swan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts and a Master’s degree in Education in the field of Exercise Science. Her education and experience blend art and science, allowing her to be comfortable in both disciplines. A teacher, writer, Aura-Soma consultant and certified Bodyworker, Cynthia also hosts 2 WERU radio shows. Her knowledge and regard for Integrative Medicine is extensive.

Writing Your Family Stories, Keeping Your Family History

Carol Bachofner, saturdays, October 10-24, 1-3pm
$60 (includes handouts)

This class focuses on getting those stories held by your family down in a pleasing way that will preserve the history there. We will put to paper that story your grandfather told around the fire, the tale told over Thanksgiving dinner, the wild thing your fisherman father told after days at sea. You may choose creative journaling as your method, poetry, or the brief vignette. We will go over each style in detail. This is a hands-on class so be prepared to write. Materials needed: Large notebook (8.5 x 11 inch spiral) for EACH person, pen, imagination, memory, desire to preserve family history. A discount will be given for two family members attending together, so bring the original storyteller along if you can. Class limited to 16 participants.

reading poems, how to fall in love with poetry

We will be looking at several kinds of poems, from the past and from poems that are being written and published today. Our focus will be on understanding poems(not picking them apart and ruining them!). Once you learn what to look for in poems, you will fall in love with poetry and want to read more. Who knows, you might even want to try writing some of your own. Materials needed: Notebook, pen. poems you know that you'd like to understand better (NOT your own poems here please). Class limited to 20 participants.
