Claire Perry

I grew up in Rockland and my best memories are
of childhood summers at Tenents Harbor, fishing
in an old rowboat with a handline and clams..
I have a strong love of the ocean and a deep respect
for its beauty and power.  I am a self-taught artist,
and the driftwood FISH are definately a connection to
memories of those treasured summer days. I create
FISH and other animals from found ocean wood.

I do not carve or alter the wood...just find the FISH within it.
Then I bring it out with knobby eyes,  nail accesories,
metal, and paint.  Life is short,  and I only wish I had given
myself permission to begin my life as an artist sooner.
But I also believe that everything happens for a reason
and in its own time...I have learned much...so, no regrets.

I have been at the Lincoln Street Center for over a year,
and look foward to entering my studio space at # 28 every day.
For me, it's a dream come true: a lovely, light, airy studio
to create art in....and the perfect artistic friend to share it with.
An artist among artists; who could ask for more?
