Thursday Afterschool Clay sessions are being offered at the 3D Studio at Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education. Ann McClellan will instruct lessons in handbuilding for children between ages 7~14.
Projects are varied, always considering aspects of clay work including texture, form, function, and process. Children enjoy making pieces inspired by nature and multicultural themes for example, fish, sunflowers, animalitos from Mexico, curio boxes from Japan. Children discover and develop their ability to manipulate clay into wonderful expressive creations. Everyone learns about what happens in a clay
studio: develop ideas, use of techniques to make forms start to finish, maintaining a studio space. Come join to learn and have fun!
Classes run for 6 weeks, Thursdays, 3:45-5:00pm, in 3D Studio (downstairs at the NE end of the building).
Ann McClellan served a 5 year potter's apprenticeship in Japan. Her wares are available locally at Carver Hill Gallery in Rockport and Trillium Soaps in Rockland.
