Grand Opening of HOPE Arts Conservatory to be Celebrated with Live Music and Festive Performance
Come find out what all the buzz is about Hope Arts Conservatory at the Lincoln Street Center for Arts and Education, in Rockland. Currently enrolling for the fall 2011 school year, Hope Arts Conservatory offers a Pre-K through Grade 6 Independent School Option, homeschool classes, after school arts, and adult classes and workshops.
Featuring music by Ponies in the Surf (July 22) and Big Dipper String Band (July 30) along with a short festive performance (July 22) by the children from Hope Arts Summer Camp. Founder Sandee Havunen will be available to answer questions about all of the programs being offered.

HOPE Arts Summer Camp
A unique summer arts camp for children 5-12 offering cultural arts, storytelling, dance, music, drama, skits, dress-up, outdoor play, drawing, painting, sculpting, games, Circus Yoga, trapeze, aerial silks, hula hooping, yoga, visiting playgrounds, museums, galleries, playing along the water's edge in Rockland and Washington, ME.
Camp by-the-day or by-the-week options throughout the entire summer. Camp Hours: 9:00am - 3:30pm Extended Hours: 8:00am - 9:00am and 3:30pm - 5:00pm.
Incredible opportunity to experience international Camp Med-O-Lark the last 2 weeks of August. Hope Arts campers will be traveling to Washington, Maine for 2 week-long sessions at the end of summer. This is an amazing opportunity for local children to get a taste of overnight camp and a sampling of some of it's offerings including Circus and Flying Trapeze! We will have a professional circus team from the Flying Trapeze School of Florida, working with the children. Of course the Flying Trapeze is optional, as there will be many other creative activities going on for campers to choose from.

Sandee Havunen (Bio)
Movement and expressive arts is where Sandee feels most at home and her greatest passion is encouraging others to express themselves freely through movement and creative arts. With more than 25 years experience in dance, performance and teaching throughout New England in the genres of Ballet, Modern Dance, Creative Movement, Circus Yoga, Shake Your Soul, Creative Arts, Choreography and Drama, Sandee brings a personal and intimate approach to her teaching by focusing on each individual's unique gifts. She especially enjoys inspiring through multi-cultural stories, music, art and dance.
Before creating and directing Hope Arts Summer Camp, Sandee performed and taught professionally for several years with Windhover Performing Arts in Rockport, MA where original works by modern dance pioneer Doris Humphrey were recreated. Prior to her professional experience, she trained and taught at Northern CT Ballet and Janice Lee School of Ballet in CT, for several years. Sandee also trained at Hartford Ballet, Nutmeg Ballet and various summer dance programs. She was also a Co-director of Thayer Academy's summer dance program in Braintree, MA. A graduate of Lesley College, Cambridge MA, she has continued her studies in Expressive Therapies at the Leven Institute of Movement Therapy, in Lenox, MA and is now a Somatic Movement Therapist. She has also received teaching certificates in Circus Yoga, and in Shake Your Soul (Kripalu Yoga Dance) is currently working on a teaching certification in Aerial Yoga at Rasamaya, Dover NH.
