Traditional Okinawan Karate

Monday – Wednesday 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 3pm

At the Rockland Matsubayashi-ryu dojo we practice
traditional Okinawan Karate-Do as it developed around
Tomari Village in Okinawa in the 18th and 19th centuries,
was passed down from the early Masters and was shaped
into a specific style founded by Grandmaster Shoshin
Nagamine in 1947.

As a dojo associated with the World Matsubayashi-Ryu
Karate-Do Association, we focus on practicing the
18 traditional Kata, fighting techniques through
Yakosoku Kumite (choreographed fighting) and
Kumite (sparring). You are welcome to join us at any level.
The classes are intense and will improve your mental
and physical endurance, your balance, and your confidence.

Sensei David Troup began training in 1987 under
Sensei Owen Masters, 6th Dan in Matsubayashi
Shorin-Ryu and then also with Sensei Max Crevani,
Kyoshi, 7th Dan in Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu at the
Shorin-Ji Bushido in New York City. He continues
training with them once a month.

Fee:     $50 per month (includes all classes)
            $13 per class.
