Earth Angels and other wonders - Clay building

The fun continues in the second session of Earth Angels at Lincoln Street.  No experience necessary and all are welcome to enjoy the fun of  using a clay extruder,  a slab-roller or learn other hand building methods to create creatures and objects of beauty, be they angels, fish, birds or abstract expressions of art. The possiblities are endless!  Try Fiber Clay, an amazing no-fire clay which hardens to stoneware density and “dry glazes” to resemble metal sculpture. Choose to work with our #60 stoneware studio clay (from Portland Pottery) to enjoy conventional glazing and firing.  You will have opportunity to try both and your materials fee will cover a #25 lb supply of clay and appropriate finishing glazes and firings.

Students will be presented with project options and instruction and will be supported to create clay pieces of their own design that can be used inside the home or in outdoor settings. The clay studio at Lincoln Street Center is a sunny and well equipped environment where students have fun, relax, learn new approaches to art and meet new friends.  What a great way to fight the winter doldrums!  Limited to 8 students and a flexible schedule of class time.

Otty Merrill is a Lincoln Street studio artist with many years experience teaching and making clay art as well as encaustic art.  She maintains a studio in Tenants Harbor and  her work is shown at Mars Hall Gallery in Port Clyde and various venues in the mid-coast area.
