Coming July 15th - R Space Unplugged
R Space at Lincoln Street Center hosts a monthly coffeehouse on the 3rd Thursday of each month, with Singer/Songwriter Paddy Mills performing Thursday July 15th, 7-10pm at the Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln Street in Rockland. The first hour is an open mic, followed by Paddy's performance, then there will be an open jam. Those interested in playing the open mic should arrive by 6:45, and poetry and spoken word are welcome. All-ages and chem free, there is a $2 admission; refreshments are provided.
At 22, Paddy was ten miles off the coast of Maine apprenticing with a natural foods chef on Monhegan Island. When he wasn't cooking, you'd find him on the rocks above the sea, cheap wine in one hand, cheap guitar in the other, quoting Jack Karouac and Edward Abbey. Only the call of the road could have finally pulled him away from that magical place. It's this tension between his strong rural roots and insatiable wanderlust that have come to define his life and music.
As a songwriter, Paddy has a knack for the overlooked. He knows that common sense is not so common, and simple truths are not so simple. With a hitch-hikers heart and a back pack full of notebook philosophy, Paddy leaves you grinning like you've just been let in on a secret -- one that you might just have known all along.
