Theater Camp July 6-August 21
Theater Program: Monday July 6– Friday July 24, 2009
Monday July 27 – Friday August 14, 2009
This three week theater program will teach students
the basics of theater. They will learn about staging
and stage presence, developing a character, improve
techniques, and the technical aspect. The first week
will consists of getting to know the stage and each
other, developing acting techniques, projection
exercises and learning the theater basics.
Week two will be the scene assignments to be
performed. Scenes will be chosen based on the
number of students signed up and the group dynamics.
The group will learn how to interact while in character,
blocking, and performance etiquette.
The third week the students will be learning technical
theater basics through creating props and scenery to
compliment the chosen scenes. A performance will be
held Friday July 24, 2009 and Friday August 14, 2009.
Multi-Arts Camp August 2009
Multi Arts Camp is designed to introduce artistic kids to
several disciplines and provide a well-rounded day of arts
and movement. For one week only, August 3-7, 3 instructors
will share their skills with a limited number of students
in the Arts and Dance. At 9am Susan Beebe will lead
an art workshop each morning, then a quick break
and snack will precede Jazz Dance. The camp ends
with a clay class in our Pottery Studio.
Course descriptions follow.
$150 per student for the entire week.
9am-1pm Monday through Friday.
9am Painting and Drawing
Paint a life-size picture of yourself! Draw animals
and make costumes for them! Draw the tiniest
drawing that you can! Design a treasure island game!
In Susan Beebe's Painting and Drawing class,
you will have fun trying many different kinds of art
projects. Susan loves teaching art to kids of all ages.
She has visited many local schools, and taught numerous
workshops and camps. She is a well-known paperdoll
designer and artist with a studio on Rockland's Main Street..
All materials will be provided, and students will participate
in the cleanup after each session in the Studio.
10:15 Snack break a small healthy snack that won’t
interfere with movement!
10:30am Jazz Dance!
Jazz Dance is electric and eclectic as it is always soaking
up the latest cultural styles. This Jazz DANCEcamp will be
designed for children at every level of dance education -
from little or no training to those with 3 or more years of
classes and will incorporate Classic Jazz Dance technique
and basic Hip Hop moves. The Jazz Dance Camp will learn
jazz dance choreography with a theme of global awareness.
Come eager to learn the many faces of jazz dance from
theatrical to blues to rock to lyrical to hip hop.
Please bring 'dance' clothing to change into and be prepared to
stretch and move for strength and flexibility; loose clothing or
close-fitting-but-stretchy clothing is essential - no bluejeans!
Shoes are essential and can be sneakers that are clean of dirt
and debris. A water bottle is a must.

11:45 Clay Class
Play with clay in our fun pottery studio, make projects like:
boxes with lids, animal sculptures, and garden ornaments,
pinch pots and other hand built pieces. They will be fired in
our kilns. Glazes of many colors are the final touch for finished
items that will last a long time. This studio is in the cool of the
basement!
