Theater @LSC Acting Studio for Children This past winter a new acting class was held in our Theater taught by Neal Parker. This 8-week course is being offered again in the fall, after school from 3:30-5pm, and conducted in the Center’s Theater. It is oriented toward children from 2nd to 6th grades. The program will include Acting Basics and Skills as done through theater exercises improvisation and games. Along the way students will be encouraged to develop their own stories and monologues. The session will culminate in an open house for friends and family where the children will share their new found talent. It is commonly accepted that theater training instills in people of any age a self-confidence that can be carried into their day-to-day lives. Instructor Neal Parker is well known in the community as a children’s book author, windjammer captain, and father. Neal is now donning a long retired cap by calling upon his theatrical training. His background includes two seasons with South Street Theater (an Off-Off-Broadway company), years of Film School, and involvement with several theatrical companies in New York City. Some of his fondest memories go back to his roles in a traveling troupe which toured City Schools and Museums performing Story Theater, a production which adapted many traditional fables to the stage. The cost for this class is $80 for the entire program, which may be made in 2 payments. Inquire about Gift Certificates for this class by calling Lincoln St. Center 594-6490. Which weekday the class will be offered may be determind by availability of interested children. http://www.lincolnstreetcenter.org Caption: Captain Neal Parker initiated the Theater class for kids at Lincoln Street Center, in January 2010 |
