Creative Writing workshops with Jen Blood The Writer's Room, Sept. 8-Oct 13, 2010. 6:30 - 8:00pm Wednesday evenings, Lincoln Street Center Alumni Room.
Description: A 6-week series of workshops and instruction exploring various elements of the writing craft. Students may sign up for the full series, or choose individual sessions depending upon their areas of interest. Session topics include: Beginning Your Great American Novel; Bringing Scenes to Life with Dynamic Dialogue; A Multi-Media Approach to Memorable Characters; The Importance of Place - Using Setting to Advance Your Story; Finding the Plot in Your Fiction, Non-fiction, and Grocery Lists; and What to Do When the Story is Over - Querying, Pitching, and Selling Your Work.
Cost: $20 per session, or $110 for the full six-weeks.
Instructor Bio: Jen Blood has been working as a professional writer and editor for the past ten years. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine, with her work appearing in Vampirella Magazine, The Island Times, and Downeast Dog News, with forthcoming pieces in BARK Magazine and the Yoga Journal. Her fiction novella The One Stop Hallelujah Coffee Shop has been taught in college classrooms around the country, and her mystery novel All the Blue-Eyed Angels is currently making the rounds in New York.
